Most PPF calculators assume one deposit a year and stop at 15 years. This one models how PPF interest actually works, so you can plan deposits, extensions and taxes with confidence.
Model a lump sum every April or a monthly deposit, with the exact interest effect of the 5th-of-the-month rule.
See how much you lose by paying in March instead of before 5 April. It can cost a full year of interest on that deposit.
Go beyond 15 years in blocks of five, up to 35 years, with or without fresh deposits during the extension.
Raise your deposit by a set percentage each year. The calculator caps it at the ₹1.5 lakh yearly limit for you.
See your deduction benefit under the old regime and the pre-tax FD rate you would need to match PPF’s tax-free return.

Pick Yearly for one deposit a year, or Monthly if you invest a fixed amount every month.
Type the amount or drag the slider. PPF allows ₹500 to ₹1,50,000 in each financial year.
Choose whether you pay before the 5th or later. Early deposits earn interest for longer.
Keep 15 years, or add 5-year extensions and decide whether to keep investing.
Open Advanced to add a step-up, your tax slab and inflation, then check the schedule and chart.
PPF interest is worked out every month on the lowest balance between the 5th and the last day of the month. It is credited once a year, on 31 March, and then earns interest itself. In short, PPF compounds yearly.
You invest ₹1,50,000 before 5 April every year for 15 years at 7.1%. You put in ₹22,50,000 and your PPF grows to ₹40,68,209. That includes ₹18,18,209 of interest, and all of it is tax-free.
A deposit made on or before the 5th counts for that month’s interest. Miss it, and the money earns nothing until the next month. With the same ₹1,50,000 a year paid in March instead of early April, the 15-year value drops to ₹37,98,515. That is ₹2,69,695 less, just from timing.

PPF is one of the few investments with EEE status. Your deposits can cut your taxable income, and both the interest and the maturity amount are completely tax-free. That is why a 7.1% PPF return often beats a higher FD rate.
Rates can change. The government reviews the PPF rate every quarter. This calculator applies one rate to the whole period, so treat long-term results as estimates.
PPF is a 15-year commitment, so a few minutes of planning can add lakhs to what you receive.
See the exact value at maturity, so you can link your PPF to goals such as retirement or a child’s education.
Compare early and late deposits and see why paying before 5 April is worth building into your routine.
Check whether extending by 5 or 10 years, with or without deposits, is worth more than withdrawing at maturity.
Compare PPF with a taxable FD and see what your maturity amount is worth after inflation.

Partial withdrawals are allowed once a year from year 7. Loans against PPF are available from year 3 to year 6. Premature closure is only allowed after 5 years for specific reasons such as serious illness or higher education.
A single deposit before 5 April earns the most, because the whole amount earns interest for the full year. Monthly deposits made on or before the 5th come close, and they suit people who prefer to invest from salary.
