What is schema markup?
Schema markup is structured data, written in the shared schema.org vocabulary, that tells search engines exactly what a page is about. Instead of guessing that a number is a price or that a line is an address, Google can read it directly. As a result, your page may qualify for rich results such as star ratings, prices, breadcrumbs or business details.
Google recommends the JSON-LD format, which sits in a single <script type="application/ld+json"> block and does not change how the page looks. That is the format this schema markup generator creates.
Schema types in this generator
| Type | Use it for | Key properties |
|---|---|---|
| FAQPage | A page with a list of questions and answers | mainEntity, Question, acceptedAnswer |
| Article / BlogPosting | Blog posts, news and guides | headline, image, datePublished, author |
| Product | A single product page in a shop | name plus offers, review or aggregateRating |
| LocalBusiness | Shops, restaurants, clinics and services with an address | name, address, telephone, opening hours |
| Organization | Your company or brand, usually on the home page | name, url, logo, sameAs |
| BreadcrumbList | The page's position in your site structure | itemListElement, position, name, item |
Since 2023, Google shows FAQ rich results mainly for well-known government and health websites. FAQ markup is still valid structured data and can help search engines understand your content.
How to add schema markup to your website
Copy the code with the script tag, then paste it into the HTML of the page it describes. In WordPress, you can use a Custom HTML block, an Elementor HTML widget or a header and footer code plugin. On other sites, place it inside the <head> or anywhere in the <body>.
SEO plugins such as Yoast already output Organization, WebPage and Breadcrumb schema. Therefore, check your page source first and avoid adding a second copy of the same type. Finally, run the page through Google's Rich Results Test and fix any warnings.

Benefits and structured data tips
Stand out in results
Rich results with stars, prices or breadcrumbs take more space and can attract more clicks.
Match visible content
Only mark up information that users can see on the page. Hidden or misleading data can lead to a manual action.
Use full URLs
Write absolute URLs that start with https, for pages, images and logos.
One main type per page
Describe the page's main topic clearly. Avoid stacking unrelated types just to chase rich results.
Keep it updated
Update prices, availability, hours and dates whenever they change on the page.
Monitor in Search Console
The Enhancements reports in Google Search Console show valid items and errors across your site.
Schema markup generator FAQs
What is a schema markup generator?
It is a tool that turns simple form fields into structured data code. You enter details such as a product name, price or business address, and it produces JSON-LD that search engines can read.
Is JSON-LD better than Microdata?
Google supports JSON-LD, Microdata and RDFa, but recommends JSON-LD because it is kept in one script block, separate from your HTML, which makes it easier to add and maintain.
Does schema markup improve rankings?
Schema markup is not a direct ranking factor. However, it helps search engines understand your page and can make it eligible for rich results, which may improve click-through rate.
Where do I paste the JSON-LD code?
Paste the code, including the script tag, into the HTML of the page it describes. It can go in the head or the body. In WordPress, use a Custom HTML block, an Elementor HTML widget or a header code plugin.
Why are my FAQ rich results not showing?
Since 2023, Google shows FAQ rich results mainly for well-known, authoritative government and health websites. Your markup can still be valid even if the rich result does not appear.
Which fields are required for Product schema?
Google needs the product name plus at least one of offers, review or aggregateRating. Adding a price, currency, availability, image and brand is strongly recommended.
Can I use more than one schema type on a page?
Yes. A product page can include Product and BreadcrumbList, for example. Add each as its own script block, and make sure every type describes content that is visible on the page.
How do I test my schema markup?
Use Google's Rich Results Test to check eligibility for rich results, and the Schema Markup Validator to check general schema.org syntax. After publishing, watch the Enhancements reports in Search Console.
