Online scientific calculator

DEG2NDM

Type directly: Enter equals, Esc clears, ^ power, ! factorial.

Why this online scientific calculator is better

Everything a handheld scientific calculator does, with the speed and clarity of a modern app.

Answers as you type

A live preview shows the result before you press equals, so you catch mistakes early instead of retyping long expressions.

Full keyboard support

Type the whole expression, edit it anywhere with the cursor, and use Enter and Esc. The on-screen keys light up as you type.

Saved calculation history

Every result is kept in a history panel you can tap to reuse. It stays on your device, so nothing is uploaded.

Degrees or radians

Switch angle mode in one tap. Exact results for common angles, so sin(180) is 0 and not a tiny rounding error.

Clean, precise math

Results are rounded to 14 significant digits, so 0.1 + 0.2 shows 0.3. Missing brackets close automatically.

Memory and Ans keys

Store running totals with M+ and M−, recall with MR, and chain calculations with Ans, just like a physical calculator.

How to use the scientific calculator

It works the way you write math on paper, from left to right.

  1. Enter the expression

Tap the keys or type, for example 2sin(30)+√(16).

  2. Check the preview

The live answer appears below the expression while you type.

  3. Press equals

Tap = or press Enter to save the result to your history.

  4. Keep going

Press an operator to continue from the answer, or use Ans later.

Scientific calculator functions explained

Use the 2nd key to switch the purple dual keys to their inverse functions.

KeyWhat it doesExample
sin, cos, tanTrigonometric functions, using the DEG or RAD modesin(30) = 0.5 in DEG
sin-1, cos-1, tan-1Inverse trig functions (2nd), return an angleasin(0.5) = 30 in DEG
ln, exNatural logarithm and its inverseln(e) = 1
log, 10xBase 10 logarithm and its inverselog(1000) = 3
√, ∛Square root and cube root√(144) = 12
x2, x3, xySquare, cube and any power2^10 = 1,024
y√xAny root, written as a fractional power32^(1/5) = 2
n!Factorial, with the gamma function for decimals5! = 120
|x|, modAbsolute value and remainder after division17 mod 5 = 2
EXPScientific notation, times ten to a power3E8 = 300,000,000
%Divides the number before it by 100200×15% = 30
Ans, M+, M−, MR, MCLast answer and memory storageAns×2

Order of operations

The calculator follows standard math precedence, so you get the same answer your textbook expects. Brackets are worked out first, then factorials and percentages, then powers (evaluated right to left), then multiplication and division, and finally addition and subtraction.

Two details catch people out. A minus sign in front of a power applies after the power, so −3^2 is −9, while (−3)^2 is 9. Implied multiplication such as 2π or 3(4+1) works like a normal times sign.

  1. ( )Brackets
  2. ! %Factorial, percent
  3. xyPowers, roots
  4. × ÷ modMultiply, divide
  5. + −Add, subtract

Benefits of using a free online scientific calculator

Useful for homework, exams practice, engineering, finance and everyday problem solving.

  • No device needed. Works on any phone, tablet or computer browser, with nothing to install.

  • Fewer input mistakes. Seeing the full expression and a live answer beats a single-line handheld display.

  • Show your working. The history panel keeps each step, which makes checking homework and reports easy.

  • Private and fast. All math runs in your browser, so it works instantly and your numbers never leave your device.

Scientific calculator FAQs

Quick answers to common questions about using an online scientific calculator.

Is this scientific calculator free to use?

Yes. It is completely free with no sign-up. All calculations run in your browser, so it also works quickly on slow connections.

How do I switch between degrees and radians?

Tap the DEG key to switch to RAD, and tap it again to switch back. The current mode is shown at the top of the display and affects sin, cos, tan and their inverses.

How do I calculate powers and roots?

Use x2, x3 or xy for powers, for example 2^8. For roots use √ or ∛, or any root as a fractional power, such as 81^(1/4) for the fourth root of 81.

How do I find a logarithm with a different base?

Use the change of base rule: divide the log of the number by the log of the base. For log base 2 of 64, enter log(64)÷log(2) to get 6.

What does the 2nd button do?

It switches the dual keys to their second function: inverse trig, ex, 10x, cube root, x3 and the y-th root. It turns off automatically after you press one key.

What are Ans and the memory keys for?

Ans inserts your last result, so you can build on it. M+ adds the current value to memory, M− subtracts it, MR recalls it and MC clears it. An M appears in the display when memory holds a value.

Why does −3² give −9 instead of 9?

By standard order of operations the power is applied before the minus sign, so −3² means −(3²). To square negative three, use brackets: (−3)^2 = 9.

Can I use this calculator with my keyboard?

Yes. Type numbers, operators and function names such as sin, log or sqrt directly. Press Enter for equals, Esc to clear and Backspace to delete. Use * for multiply, / for divide and ^ for powers.
