When names don't divide evenly, extra people are spread one per team so sizes never differ by more than one.
In People per team mode, the tool picks the number of groups that keeps every group closest to your chosen size, so nobody is left in a group on their own.
| You have | You choose | You get |
|---|---|---|
| 10 people | 2 teams | 5 and 5 |
| 23 people | 4 teams | 6, 6, 6 and 5 |
| 30 people | 5 teams | 6 in each team |
| 31 people | Groups of 5 | 6 groups: one of 6, five of 5 |
| 33 people | Groups of 5 | 7 groups: five of 5, two of 4 |
| 7 people | Pairs (groups of 2) | 3 groups: one trio and two pairs |
With skill balancing on, players are ranked by their rating and drafted in a snake order: first to last, then last to first. That stops one team getting every top pick.
The tool then tries swaps between the strongest and weakest teams until the totals are as close as they can be, and shows each team's total and average so everyone can see it is fair.
Random teams remove bias, save time and keep things fun, whether it's a classroom, a pitch or an office.
