GS1 Mod 10 for EAN, UPC and ITF-14, plus optional Mod 43 for Code 39. A wrong check digit is flagged and fixed before you print.
Download vector SVG that stays crisp at any size, or PNG at up to 4× resolution for 300 dpi labels and documents.
Paste up to 300 values at once. Print them as a label sheet or export a CSV with every full code and check digit.
Your product numbers never leave your device. Nothing is uploaded, logged or stored, so it is safe for unreleased SKUs.
Quiet zones are kept, guard bars are drawn to spec, and you get a warning if your colors are too low in contrast to scan.
You can make a barcode for a product, shelf label or shipping box in under a minute.
Pick Code 128 for general labels, EAN-13 or UPC-A for retail products, or ITF-14 for shipping cartons.
Type or paste your value. The preview updates instantly and any check digit is added for you.
Set bar width, height, quiet zone and label size. Keep dark bars on a light background for reliable scans.
Save SVG for print, PNG for documents and websites, or print directly. Test one label with your scanner first.
The right symbology depends on where the barcode will be scanned. Use this table to match the format to the job.
| Format | Characters | Length | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Code 128 | Letters, digits and symbols | Variable | Inventory, SKUs, asset tags and shipping labels |
| EAN-13 | Digits only | 13 (12 + check) | Retail products worldwide, including books (ISBN) |
| UPC-A | Digits only | 12 (11 + check) | Retail products in the US and Canada |
| EAN-8 | Digits only | 8 (7 + check) | Small packs with little label space |
| Code 39 | A to Z, 0 to 9 and 7 symbols | Variable | Industrial parts, ID badges and older systems |
| ITF-14 | Digits only | 14 (13 + check) | Outer cases and cartons in warehouses |
Code 128 encodes the full keyboard character set and switches to a compact numeric mode for long runs of digits. As a result, it produces a much shorter barcode than Code 39 for the same data. Choose Code 39 only when an older scanner or a customer specification requires it.
EAN-13, UPC-A, EAN-8 and ITF-14 all carry a GTIN, the global product number managed by GS1. EAN and UPC go on the item a shopper buys. ITF-14 goes on the outer carton, and it prints well on corrugated cardboard.
For small businesses, sellers and warehouse teams, a browser tool removes the cost and setup of label software.
Starting from the right, multiply the digits by 3 and 1 in turn, add the results, then find the number that brings the total up to the next multiple of 10.
Data: 590123412345
Weighted sum from the right = 83
Next multiple of 10 = 90
Check digit = 90 − 83 = 7
Full EAN-13: 5901234123457
Yes. The barcode generator is free with no sign-up, watermark or usage cap. The images you create are yours to use on products, labels and documents. Everything is drawn in your browser, so your data is never uploaded.
The tool creates a valid, scannable UPC or EAN image for any number you enter. However, retailers and marketplaces require a GTIN licensed to your company by GS1. Get your number from GS1 in your country, such as GS1 India or GS1 US, then generate the barcode image here.
UPC-A has 12 digits and is used mainly in the US and Canada. EAN-13 has 13 digits and is used worldwide. A UPC-A code is an EAN-13 code with a leading zero, and modern retail scanners read both.
Use Code 128 for most internal labels. It encodes letters, numbers and symbols and packs data densely, so labels stay short. Choose Code 39 only when an older scanner or system requires it.
No. For EAN-13, UPC-A, EAN-8 and ITF-14, type the number without its last digit and the check digit is calculated for you. If you enter the full number, the tool verifies the check digit and corrects it if it is wrong.
At 100% magnification, an EAN-13 or UPC-A barcode is about 37 mm wide and 26 mm tall, and GS1 allows 80% to 200% of that size. Always keep the blank quiet zones on both sides. For printing, download the SVG because it stays sharp at any size.
Yes. Open the Bulk generator tab and paste up to 300 values, one per line. You get a grid of barcodes, a printable label sheet and a CSV that lists each full code with its check digit.
