Why this 8th CPC calculator gives a truer picture
Most 8th Pay Commission calculators multiply your basic pay by one number and stop there. However, that headline figure ignores the DA reset, so it overstates the real raise. This tool models the full payslip instead.
Full payslip, not just basic
It works out DA, HRA, transport allowance and DA on TA for your current and revised pay, side by side.
DA reset built in
New pay starts at 0% DA and HRA drops to 24%, 16% or 8%, just as it did in 2016. Many tools miss this step.
Real raise meter
Your break-even fitment factor shows how much of the increase is new money and how much only replaces DA.
Every pay level
Levels 1 to 18, including 13A, come with entry pay filled in. You can overwrite it with your exact pay cell.
Pension and arrears
Estimate revised pension, family pension and the arrears you may receive if implementation is delayed.
Private and shareable
Everything runs in your browser and nothing is stored. Copy a summary or share a link with colleagues.

How 8th Pay Commission salary is calculated
New pay under the 8th Pay Commission is fixed in three steps. First, your current basic pay is multiplied by the fitment factor. Next, the result is placed in a cell of the new pay matrix. Finally, DA, HRA and TA are worked out on the new basic.
Because DA restarts at zero, a fitment factor of 1 + current DA only keeps your basic plus DA where it is today. With DA at 60%, that break-even point is 1.60. So any factor above 1.60 is a real raise, and the calculator shows this gap for your own pay.
Worked example: Level 1, ₹18,000 basic, X city
- Current gross (DA 60%, HRA 30%, TA with DA)
- ₹36,360
- Revised basic at 2.28 (₹41,040 rounded up)
- ₹41,100
- HRA (minimum for X cities applies)
- ₹12,330
- Transport allowance (DA reset to 0%)
- ₹1,350
- Revised gross
- ₹54,780
- Increase per month
- +₹18,420 (50.7%)
The minimum HRA here assumes the 7th CPC rule continues. That rule set the HRA floor at 30%, 20% and 10% of the minimum pay.
What is the fitment factor?
The fitment factor is the multiplier that converts old basic pay into new basic pay. The 6th Pay Commission used 1.86. The 7th Pay Commission used 2.57, which lifted minimum pay from ₹7,000 to ₹18,000. For the 8th Pay Commission, the NC-JCM staff side has asked for 3.83, which means a minimum pay of ₹69,000. Meanwhile, most published estimates range from about 1.92 to 2.86. The Commission has not announced a figure yet.

8th Pay Commission salary calculator FAQs
Quick answers to the questions central government employees and pensioners ask most.
The fitment factor has not been announced yet. Published estimates mostly fall between 1.92 and 2.86, while the NC-JCM staff side has demanded 3.83. For comparison, the 7th Pay Commission used 2.57. Use the scenario table above to see your salary at each factor.
At a fitment factor of 2.28, a Level 1 basic pay of ₹18,000 becomes about ₹41,100. In an X city with the minimum HRA, gross pay would rise from ₹36,360 to about ₹54,780 a month. At 1.92, the revised basic would be about ₹34,600.
The Commission was constituted on 3 November 2025 with an 18-month mandate, so its report is expected around mid-2027. New pay is widely expected to apply from 1 January 2026, with arrears for the delay. The government has not confirmed these dates.
Yes, based on past practice. When new pay starts, DA restarts at 0% because the existing DA is absorbed into the fitment factor. In 2016, DA stood at 125% when the 7th Pay Commission reset it. This is why the real hike is smaller than the fitment factor suggests.
The calculator assumes the 7th CPC structure continues. HRA is 24%, 16% or 8% of basic pay for X, Y and Z cities while DA is below 25%. It rises to 27%, 18% and 9% at 25% DA, then to 30%, 20% and 10% at 50% DA. Minimum HRA is taken as 30%, 20% and 10% of the new minimum pay.
Basic pension is usually multiplied by the same fitment factor, and Dearness Relief restarts at 0%. For example, the ₹9,000 minimum pension becomes ₹20,520 at a factor of 2.28. Use the Pension tab to estimate your own revised pension and arrears.
It applies the current 7th CPC rules for DA, HRA, transport allowance and deductions, so the method is sound. However, the fitment factor and new pay matrix are not final yet. Your final pay cell may differ slightly, and income tax is not deducted.
Yes, as a guide. States set up their own pay commissions, and many adopt a similar fitment factor later. Enter your own basic pay, DA and city class to get a useful estimate.
