    Why it is different

Why this image resizer is better

Most resizers upload your photo to a server, split every KB target into a separate page and give you one download at a time. This tool does it all in one place, privately.

    Nothing is uploaded

Resizing happens inside your browser. That makes it safe for ID photos, signatures and personal documents.

    Hit any KB limit

Set a maximum such as 20 KB or 50 KB. The tool finds the highest quality that fits and trims dimensions only if it has to.

    Pixels, percent or print size

Work in px, %, cm, mm or inches with DPI. JPG files keep the DPI you choose, which helps with print and photo forms.

    Crop, pad, blur or stretch

Choose what happens when the shape changes, and pick which part of the photo to keep when cropping. Nothing gets squashed unless you want it to.

    Batch resize with ZIP

Resize up to 30 images with the same settings, then save them one by one or all together in a single ZIP file.

    Sharper downscaling

Large reductions are done in several smaller steps. This keeps edges and text cleaner than a single jump.

    How to use

How to resize an image online

It takes four quick steps, and you can repeat them with new settings as often as you like.

    1. Add your images

Drag photos onto the upload box, browse your device or paste with Ctrl+V. You can add up to 30 at once.

    2. Pick the new size

Choose a preset, or enter pixels, a percentage or a print size in cm, mm or inches.

    3. Set format and file size

Keep the original format or switch to JPG, PNG or WebP. Turn on the KB limit if a website caps file size.

    4. Resize and download

Press Resize images, check the before and after sizes, then download each file or the full ZIP.

    File size

How to resize an image to 20KB, 50KB or 100KB

Job portals, exam forms and government websites often set strict limits for photos and signatures. Here is how to meet them first time.

    Steps for a KB limit

    • Read the portal's rules first. Most list both pixel size and file size.
    • Enter the required width and height, or pick a print size preset.
    • Turn on Limit file size and enter the maximum, such as 50 KB.
    • Choose JPG output. It gives the smallest files for photos.
    • Resize, then check the result before you upload it.

    Why dimensions sometimes shrink

The tool first lowers JPG quality step by step to fit your limit. If the file is still too large at low quality, it reduces the pixel size slightly and tries again. A badge on the result tells you when this happened.

For tiny limits such as 10 KB or 20 KB, a smaller starting size looks better than heavy compression. A 200 × 230 px photo usually fits easily.

    Online forms

Photo and signature resizer for online forms

Exam, job and government portals usually ask for a photo and a signature in fixed pixel sizes and KB ranges. The Online forms presets set the size, JPG format and KB limit in one click.

UploadTypical sizeTypical file sizePreset to use
    Passport-style photo200 × 230 px or 3.5 × 4.5 cm20 KB to 50 KBForm photo, or Photo 35 × 45 mm

    Thumb impression240 × 240 px20 KB to 50 KBThumb impression
Scanned document or certificateA4 at 100 to 150 DPI100 KB to 300 KBPrint size with a KB limit

These are common ranges only. Every portal sets its own rules, so always follow the exact size and KB limits in the official notice.

How to resize a signature to 20KB

    • Sign in black or dark blue ink on plain white paper.
    • Photograph or scan it, then add it to the image resizer.
    • Pick the Signature preset, or enter the size your form asks for.
    • Keep Crop to fill and set the crop position so the whole signature stays in the frame.
    • Press Resize images and upload the JPG.

If the form rejects your photo

    • File too large: lower the KB limit by 5 KB and resize again.
    • File too small: some portals set a minimum. Turn off the limit, raise quality or use a slightly larger pixel size.
    • Wrong dimensions: switch off the aspect-ratio lock and enter the exact width and height.
    • Wrong format: choose JPG output, because most portals accept only .jpg or .jpeg.
    Benefits

Benefits of resizing images before you upload

Right-sized images save time for you and for everyone who opens them.

    • Faster websites. Smaller images load quicker and improve Core Web Vitals.
    • No rejected uploads. Forms accept files that meet their size limits.
    • Sharper social posts. Platforms compress less when your image already fits.
    • Smaller emails. Attachments stay under mailbox limits.
    • Less storage. Your phone, drive and backups fill up more slowly.

    Pixels, DPI and centimetres explained

Screens use pixels. Printers use physical size and dots per inch (DPI). To convert a print size into pixels, divide by 2.54 and multiply by the DPI.

    Pixels = cm ÷ 2.54 × DPI

    Width: 3.5 cm ÷ 2.54 × 300 = 413 px

    Height: 4.5 cm ÷ 2.54 × 300 = 531 px

    Passport photo at 300 DPI = 413 × 531 px

    FAQ

    Image resizer FAQs

Is this image resizer free and private?

Yes. The image resizer is free, needs no sign-up and adds no watermark. Your photos are processed inside your browser and are never uploaded to a server.

How do I resize an image to 50KB?

Add your image, turn on Limit file size and enter 50, or tap the 50 KB button. Then press Resize images. The tool lowers JPG quality step by step and reduces the dimensions only if it needs to.

    Does resizing reduce image quality?

Making an image smaller keeps detail well, because large reductions are done in several steps. Making an image larger cannot add detail, so it looks softer beyond about 150%. Very small KB limits also add visible compression.

How do I resize a photo for a passport or visa application?

Choose a passport preset, or select Print size and enter the size, for example 35 × 45 mm at 300 DPI. Keep Crop to fill selected so the photo is not stretched. Always follow the official rules for size, background and file size.

What is the difference between resizing and compressing an image?

Resizing changes the width and height in pixels. Compressing keeps the dimensions and reduces the file size by encoding the image more efficiently. To shrink files without changing dimensions, use our image compressor.

Can I resize multiple images at once?

Yes. Add up to 30 images and they are all resized with the same settings. You can then download each one or save them all in a single ZIP file.

How do I resize a photo and signature for an online form?

Choose the Form photo or Signature preset under Online forms. It sets the pixel size, JPG format and a KB limit in one step. Then press Resize images. Check the portal's notice first, because every form sets its own size and KB range.

Can I resize an image in cm and KB at the same time?

Yes. Select Print size, enter the size in cm or mm with the DPI, then turn on Limit file size and enter the KB value. The photo is resized to the exact print size first and then compressed to fit the limit.

    Which image formats are supported?

You can resize JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF and BMP files, plus AVIF where your browser supports it. Safari can also open HEIC photos. Results can be saved as JPG, PNG or WebP.

How do I resize an image without changing its proportions?

Keep the link button switched on and type only a width or a height. The other side is calculated for you. You can also resize by percent, which always keeps the original proportions.
