Why this attendance calculator helps more
Most attendance calculators give you a percentage and stop. This one tells you what to do next, for every subject.
Bunk or attend, clearly
Above your limit, see how many classes you can miss. Below it, see how many you must attend in a row.
Subject-wise tracking
Colleges often check each subject separately. Track them all and spot the one that is slipping.
Semester planner
Add the classes left and see the best percentage you can still reach, and how many of those you can skip.
What-if slider
Slide to see where you land if you attend some, but not all, of the next few classes.
One-tap daily marking
Press P or A after each class to keep your subject counts current without doing any maths.
Private and saved
Your subjects can be remembered on your own device. Nothing is sent to a server.

The maths
How attendance percentage is calculated
Attendance percentage is the number of classes you attended divided by the total classes held, multiplied by 100. If you attended 42 of 60 classes, your attendance is 70%.
Classes you need to reach 75%
Every class you attend adds one to both the attended and the total count, so your percentage rises slowly. At 42 of 60, you need 12 classes in a row to reach 54 of 72, which is exactly 75%.
Classes you can bunk
Every class you miss adds one to the total only. If you have attended 54 of 60 (90%), you can miss 12 classes and still be at 54 of 72, which is exactly 75%.
Why one day matters
Early in the semester each class moves your percentage a lot. Later, with a bigger total, it takes many more classes to recover, so fix a shortage early.
Attendance formulas
Current attendance:
Attendance % = attended ÷ total × 100Classes needed to reach a target r (for 75%, r = 0.75):
Needed = (r × total − attended) ÷ (1 − r)Classes you can miss and stay at r:
Can miss = attended ÷ r − totalRound needed up and can-miss down to whole classes.

Know the rules
Attendance rules for Indian colleges and schools
Rules differ between boards and universities. These are the most common ones.
- 75% is the usual minimum
- Most universities, engineering and medical colleges, and CBSE schools require 75% attendance to sit end-of-term exams.
- Per subject or overall
- Many colleges apply the limit to each subject, including labs, not just your overall average. Check which applies to you.
- Condonation of shortage
- Many universities can excuse a small shortage, often up to about 10%, for medical or genuine reasons, usually with proof and sometimes a fee.
- CBSE relaxation
- CBSE may relax the 75% rule for students with serious illness, national-level sports or other genuine reasons, if the school recommends it with documents.
- Medical and duty leave
- Approved medical or on-duty leave for college events may be counted as present. Apply for it on time with the right forms.
- What if you fall short
- Students below the limit can be barred from exams and may have to repeat the course or semester, so act as soon as you slip.
For school students, see the official examination bye-laws on the CBSE website.

Attendance calculator FAQs
How do I calculate my attendance percentage?
Divide the classes you attended by the total classes held and multiply by 100. For example, 42 classes attended out of 60 gives 42 ÷ 60 × 100 = 70%.
How many classes can I bunk and still keep 75% attendance?
Divide the classes you attended by 0.75, subtract the total classes held, and round down. With 54 of 60 classes attended, 54 ÷ 0.75 − 60 = 12, so you can miss 12 classes and stay at exactly 75%.
How many classes do I need to attend to reach 75%?
Use (0.75 × total − attended) ÷ 0.25 and round up. At 42 of 60, that is (45 − 42) ÷ 0.25 = 12 classes in a row, which takes you to 54 of 72, or 75%.
Is 75% attendance compulsory?
In most Indian universities, professional colleges and CBSE schools, yes. Students need at least 75% to write end-semester or board exams, although the exact rule and any exemptions depend on your institution.
What happens if my attendance is below 75%?
You may be barred from exams, lose internal marks, or have to repeat the course. Many colleges allow condonation of a small shortage for medical or genuine reasons, so speak to your class advisor early with documents.
Is 74.5% attendance rounded up to 75%?
It depends on your college. Many institutions do not round up and treat anything below 75% as a shortage, so aim to stay a few classes above the limit.
Do labs and tutorials count separately?
Often, yes. Many colleges calculate attendance separately for each theory subject and lab. Use the subject-wise tracker to add labs and tutorials as their own subjects.
Does medical leave count as attendance?
Approved medical or on-duty leave is often counted as present or excused, but only if you apply with proof before the deadline. Check your college rules.
Can I track attendance for all my subjects?
Yes. Switch to Subject-wise, add each subject, and press P or A after every class. Tick Remember my subjects to keep them on your device for next time.
Never get caught short on attendance
Check the attendance calculator every week, fix a shortage while it is still small, and use your safe bunks wisely.
