Choose wisely

Which post office scheme is right for you?

  • Retired and 60 or older

SCSS pays the highest rate with quarterly income. Add MIS for monthly cash flow once SCSS is full.

  • Need monthly income

MIS gives a fixed amount every month for 5 years, with a joint account allowing up to ₹15 lakh.

  • Saving tax under 80C

NSC and the 5-year TD both qualify, and NSC usually earns more because interest compounds to maturity.

  • Long-term growth

KVP doubles your money with no upper limit, a simple choice for goals around 10 years away.

  • Short-term parking

A 1-year or 2-year TD keeps your money safe with guaranteed returns until you need it.

  • Want zero risk

All small savings schemes carry a sovereign guarantee, and the rate you lock in does not change until maturity.
