Many web metronomes drift or only offer a basic click. This one uses precise audio scheduling and gives you the practice tools musicians actually need.
Clicks are scheduled on the audio clock, not screen timers, so the beat stays even at any tempo.
Hear eighths, triplets or sixteenths, and set every beat to accent, normal or silent for complex patterns.
Let the tempo rise automatically every few bars up to a target, the proven way to build speed cleanly.
Tap along to a song and the metronome finds its BPM, then shows the classical tempo marking.
Choose click, woodblock, beep, hi-hat or cowbell, whichever cuts through your instrument best.
From 2/4 and 3/4 to 7/8 and 12/8, with a bar counter and practice timer to track your session.
Set up your practice click in seconds.
Type a BPM, drag the slider, use the plus and minus buttons, or tap the tempo of a song.
Choose a time signature and a subdivision, such as 4/4 with eighth notes.
Tap the beat dots to accent or mute beats, for example to hear only beats 2 and 4.
Press Start or the space bar. Turn on the speed trainer to push your tempo up gradually.
Italian tempo markings describe speed in sheet music. The metronome shows the matching marking as you change the BPM.
| Marking | Approximate BPM | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Largo | 40 to 60 | Very slow and broad |
| Adagio | 66 to 76 | Slow and relaxed |
| Andante | 76 to 108 | At a walking pace |
| Moderato | 108 to 120 | Moderate speed |
| Allegro | 120 to 156 | Fast and lively |
| Vivace | 156 to 176 | Very lively |
| Presto | 168 to 200 | Very fast |
The top number is how many beats are in a bar, and the bottom number is which note gets the beat. 4/4 has four quarter-note beats, 3/4 gives a waltz feel, and 6/8 groups six eighth notes into two strong pulses.

Choose 4/4, then click beats 1 and 3 until they are silent. Leave beats 2 and 4 on, which is how many jazz and pop players practise.
Yes. It works in modern mobile browsers. On iPhone, turn off the silent switch so you can hear the clicks, and keep the screen on while you practise.
The speed trainer raises the tempo by a set amount every few bars until it reaches your target BPM. It helps you build speed gradually without stopping to adjust.
