Most free recorders give you one take, one format and a single button. This one works like a small studio app, so you get cleaner audio and more control without installing anything.
Audio is captured and converted inside your browser. Nothing is uploaded to a server, so interviews, notes and personal messages stay yours.
Download a small MP3 for sharing, a lossless WAV for editing, or the original WebM or M4A file your browser recorded.
Cut silence or false starts from the beginning and end on a visual waveform, preview the selection, then save it as a new take.
See your voice as you speak. The meter shows input level in decibels and warns you the moment you are too loud and starting to clip.
Pause mid-sentence and carry on where you stopped. Every take is kept in a list so you can compare them and keep the best one.
Pick your microphone and switch noise suppression, echo cancellation and auto gain on or off for a natural or a cleaner sound.

No downloads and no account. If you have never used a browser recorder before, this takes about ten seconds.
Tip: test your setup first with our online mic test if you are not sure your microphone is working.
Your browser asks for microphone permission. Choose Allow. If you have more than one mic, pick the right one from the Microphone list first.
Keep the bar mostly in the green and amber zone. If the Too loud warning appears, move back a little or lower your input volume.
Press Pause (or the Space bar) to take a break. Press Stop & save when you are done and the take appears under Your recordings.
Play the take. Select Trim to remove dead air or false starts, preview the selection, then save the trimmed copy.
Rename the file if you like, then choose MP3 for sharing or WAV for editing in Audacity, GarageBand, Premiere or any audio editor.
Your browser records in a compressed format (WebM or Ogg in Chrome, Edge and Firefox, M4A in Safari). The voice recorder can convert any take to MP3 or WAV on your device.
| Format | Quality | Size per minute | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| MP3 (128 kbps) | Good, compressed | About 1 MB | Sharing by email or chat, uploading to most websites, playing on any device |
| WAV (16-bit PCM) | Lossless | About 5.8 MB (mono, 48 kHz) | Editing, podcast production, transcription and voice-over work |
| WebM / Ogg (Opus) | Very good, compressed | About 1 MB | Quick saves in Chrome, Edge and Firefox, web playback |
| M4A (AAC) | Very good, compressed | About 1 MB | Safari on iPhone, iPad and Mac, Apple apps |
Rule of thumb: if you plan to edit, download WAV first. You can always convert WAV to MP3 later, but you cannot restore detail that compression has already removed.
A good recording depends more on the room and mic position than on expensive gear. These simple habits make a laptop or phone mic sound noticeably more professional.
Recording in your browser skips app stores, installers and accounts, while giving you the same core tools as a desktop audio recorder.
Open the page and record. It works the same on Windows, macOS, Linux, ChromeOS, Android and iOS.
No account, no cloud storage and no tracking of your audio. Your recordings disappear when you close the tab.
The recorder loads in a moment and runs smoothly even on older phones. The MP3 encoder loads only when you need it.
No trial, no watermark, no daily cap on recordings or downloads. Record as often and as long as you need.
Most recording problems come down to browser permission or the wrong input device. Work through these in order.
Click the lock or settings icon to the left of the address bar, set Microphone to Allow and reload. On iPhone go to Settings, Safari, Microphone. On Android Chrome open Site settings, Microphone.
Choose the correct device in the Microphone list. On Windows check Settings, System, Sound, Input; on a Mac check System Settings, Sound, Input. Our mic test shows whether the device picks up sound.
Lower the input volume or move back until the Too loud warning stops. Turning off Auto gain in Recording settings can also help with loud voices.
Close Zoom, Teams, Discord or any other call app, then press Record again. Some systems only let one app use a microphone at a time.
Yes. There is no sign-up, no watermark, no daily limit and no paid tier. You can record and download as many takes as you like.
No. Audio is recorded and converted entirely in your browser using the built-in MediaStream Recording API. Nothing is sent to our server. Recordings are cleared when you close or reload the page, so download the ones you want to keep.
Press Record, allow microphone access, speak, then press Stop & save. Under Your recordings, click MP3. The file is converted on your device and downloads straight away.
There is no fixed limit. Recordings are held in your device's memory, so hours of audio are possible on most computers. For very long sessions, stop and download in parts to be safe.
Yes. It works in Safari on iPhone and iPad (iOS 14.5 or later) and in Chrome, Firefox, Edge and Samsung Internet on Android. Keep the screen on and the tab open while recording.
Usually the browser permission is blocked, another app is using the mic, or no microphone is connected. Allow microphone access from the address bar, close apps like Zoom or Teams, and try again.
This tool records from microphones only. Browsers do not let a website capture system audio through the microphone input. To capture computer sound, use a screen recorder that supports tab or system audio.
Click Trim on any take, drag the Start and End sliders to select the part you want, press Play selection to check it, then click Save trimmed copy. The original take is kept.
Choose MP3 for sharing because it is about five times smaller. Choose WAV if you will edit the audio or send it for transcription, because it is lossless.
Whether it is a quick voice memo, a podcast intro or a song idea, capture it now, trim it and take it with you as MP3 or WAV. Free, private and ready on every device.
