WordPress is usually better when the site’s main job is enquiries and Google visibility. Shopify is usually better when selling many products online is the main job. I build on both, so the advice isn’t biased. The comparison covers fees, hosting and ownership.
It depends on the number of unique layouts or products, how much is custom, and which integrations you need. After a short brief I send a fixed, itemised quote, so the price is agreed before work starts. For Shopify, the platform’s own plan, transaction and app fees are separate.
Most business websites launch in 1 to 3 weeks once content is ready. Stores and custom features take longer, and Shopify timelines depend mostly on how ready your product photos, descriptions and prices are. You get a timeline with the quote.
You do. Domain and hosting are in your name, and a Shopify store is built on an account in your business’s name, where I work as a collaborator. At handover you get admin access and a walkthrough.
A freelancer suits business sites, online stores, redesigns and fixes: you talk directly to the person building it, with lower overheads. If you need branding, copywriting and ads handled together by a team, an agency may suit you better, and I’ll say so on the first call.
Yes. Support after launch is part of the handover, and fixes, updates and backups can be one-off or ongoing.
No, and be careful with anyone who does. I build a fast, well-structured site or store where nothing gets in the way of a customer. That gives your pages a fair chance to rank and your products a fair chance to sell.
