Shopify developer for Surat traders selling wholesale and retail from one store

I’m Deepak R, a freelance Shopify developer. Shopify’s wholesale features now work on its standard plans, so a Surat business can show one price to retail shoppers and separate price lists to resellers and wholesale buyers, from a single store and a single stock count.

What Shopify’s wholesale features cover on each plan

In April 2026 Shopify brought its native B2B features, previously Shopify Plus only, to its Basic, Grow and Advanced plans. For most Surat traders that means wholesale no longer needs a separate website, a Plus subscription or a patchwork of apps.

How I set it up

Retail, resellers and wholesale buyers, without three separate systems

The features are there; the work is in mapping them to how you actually sell. This is the setup I plan with Surat textile, saree and jewellery businesses.

01

Three price lists, chosen carefully

With three active catalogues on standard plans, we decide which buyer groups really need their own prices, such as retail, resellers and bulk wholesale.

02

Approved wholesale accounts

A registration form that asks for business name and GSTIN, with you approving each account before wholesale prices appear.

03

Minimums and pack sizes

Quantity rules for minimum orders and sets, so a wholesale buyer can’t order a single piece at the bulk price.

04

GST invoices for business buyers

Invoices that carry the buyer’s GSTIN for B2B orders, alongside normal retail invoices, set up with an invoicing app.

05

Catalogues resellers can share

Clean product and collection links that look good when shared on WhatsApp, so resellers can sell from your store instead of forwarding photos.

Your CA should confirm GST treatment for your B2B and retail sales. I build the store and invoicing setup to match.

Selected work

Shopify stores I’ve built

These are retail stores; I don’t have a live wholesale or textile store in my portfolio yet, and I won’t pretend otherwise. They show how I build product pages and checkout.

FAQ

Questions Surat businesses ask

Do we need Shopify Plus to sell wholesale?

For most businesses, not any more. Company accounts, up to three wholesale price lists, volume pricing, quantity rules and payment terms are available on Basic, Grow and Advanced. Plus is needed for unlimited or per-company price lists and for deposits or partial payments.

Will retail customers see our wholesale prices?

No. Wholesale prices appear only after an approved business buyer logs in. Everyone else sees your retail prices.

We have more than three types of buyer. What then?

Often buyer groups can be combined, or volume pricing can cover the difference. If you genuinely need more price lists, the options are Shopify Plus or a wholesale app, and I’ll compare the costs with you.

Can you add wholesale to our existing Shopify store?

Usually, yes. The store needs to use Shopify’s newer Markets setup for B2B catalogues on standard plans; I check that first and set it up if needed.

You’re in Chennai. How does that work for a Surat business?

Shopify work happens in your admin and on calls, so location matters very little. We share a time zone, and meetings are video calls rather than office visits.

What will the store cost to run each month?

Shopify’s plan, its transaction fee on third-party gateways, gateway fees and any paid apps. My Chennai Shopify page explains these. My build is a separate, fixed quote.

Do you guarantee more orders?

No. A good wholesale setup makes ordering easier for your buyers and your team. Demand still depends on your products, prices and relationships.
