I’m Deepak R. I build new Shopify stores and move existing ones from WooCommerce and other platforms, with every old link redirected, customers invited back and nothing switched over until it’s tested. I build on WordPress too, so I’ll tell you if moving isn’t worth it.

Every indexed URL gets a 301 redirect like these before the domain switches.
Moving to Shopify
Pune agency pages promise migration “without losing data”. Some things genuinely can’t be carried across, so here’s the honest list, and what I do about each.
| Data | Moves? | What I do |
|---|---|---|
| Products and variants | Yes | Import, then check variant-heavy products, images and SKUs one by one, since these are where imports break. |
| Categories | Yes, as collections | Rebuild them as Shopify collections, with automatic rules where it saves you work later. |
| Customers | Yes, without passwords | Passwords usually can’t be carried across, so customers get a branded invite to set a new one after launch. |
| Order history | With a migration app | Not possible by simple CSV. I use a migration app when past orders matter to you or your customers. |
| Page and product URLs | No, they change | Shopify uses fixed paths like /products/ and /collections/, so every indexed URL gets a 301 redirect, imported in bulk. |
| Theme and design | No | Rebuilt as a Shopify theme. It’s usually the chance to fix what wasn’t working. |
| Plugins and custom features | No | Each one replaced by a Shopify app, theme code, or dropped if nobody used it. You see the list before we start. |
| Subscriptions and saved cards | Not automatically | Planned separately, with customers told in advance. |
Before you commit
A migration costs time and money, and Shopify adds monthly and per-order fees WooCommerce doesn’t have. It’s worth it for some stores, not all.
If WooCommerce is the right answer, my WordPress developer for Pune page covers that side.
Process
Your current store keeps taking orders while the Shopify store is built and tested. The switch happens only when everything checks out.
Indexed URLs, plugins, data and traffic pages listed, so nothing important is missed.
Theme, collections and apps set up on your own Shopify account.
Products, customers and orders imported, then spot-checked against the old store.
Every old URL mapped and imported, plus prepaid and COD test orders.
Domain moved, account invites sent, and Search Console watched for broken links in the weeks after.

FAQ
Rankings usually hold when every indexed URL is redirected to its matching Shopify page and product content moves across intact. Some movement in the first weeks is normal. Skipping redirects is what causes lasting losses, so that step is never optional in my migrations.
Usually not, because passwords are stored encrypted and generally can’t be transferred. After launch, customers receive an invite email to set a new password, and their details come across.
No. Your current store keeps running while Shopify is built and tested. The domain switch is planned for a quiet time, and any orders placed in between are brought across.
Usually, yes. What can be exported differs by platform, so I check your export options in the audit and tell you exactly what will and won’t come across before quoting.
It depends on the number of products and variants, URLs to redirect, and features to replace. After the audit I send a fixed, itemised quote. Shopify’s own running costs are separate; my Chennai Shopify page explains them.
Not for Shopify work, which happens in your admin and on calls. We share a time zone, and meetings are video calls rather than office visits.
If you want branding, photography, ads and development under one contract, yes. If you want a carefully scoped build or migration with direct access to the developer doing it, a freelancer is usually simpler.
No. A migration protects what you’ve built and makes the store easier to run. Growth still depends on your products, pricing and marketing.
