Shopify developer for Jaipur makers ready for a store of their own

I’m Deepak R, a freelance Shopify developer. I help Jaipur jewellery, block-print, pottery and home décor sellers move beyond Etsy and marketplaces to their own Shopify store, set up for one-of-a-kind pieces and made-to-order work.

From marketplaces

Moving from Etsy or Amazon to your own Shopify store

Many Jaipur sellers built their business on Etsy, Amazon or Instagram. A store of your own means your own customer list, your own brand and no marketplace deciding who sees your products. You don’t have to leave the marketplace to do it.

Moving from a marketplace to Shopify
QuestionWhat happens
Can my Etsy listings come across?Usually, yes. Shopify’s migration tools and apps can import marketplace listings. I then clean up titles, variants and photos, which rarely import perfectly.
Do I have to stop selling on Etsy? No. Many sellers keep both. A sync app can keep stock in step so a one-off piece isn’t sold twice.
Do my marketplace customers come with me?Marketplace buyers belong to the marketplace, so plan to invite them through your packaging and social channels, within each platform’s rules.
What about my reviews? Some review apps can import marketplace reviews; I check what’s possible for your platform before promising it.
Who owns the new store? You do. It’s built on a Shopify account in your name, and I work on it as a collaborator.

Handmade stock

A store set up for pieces that aren’t mass-produced

Shopify’s defaults assume identical products in stock. Jaipur makers sell unique pieces, small batches and made-to-order work, and the store should handle that properly.

01

One-of-a-kind pieces

Stock of one, and sold pieces kept online as “sold” with similar pieces suggested, so the page and its Google traffic aren’t lost.

02

Made-to-order work

Production and dispatch times shown on the product page and in the cart, so buyers know what to expect before paying.

03

Jewellery details

Metal, weight, purity, stone and certificate details in a consistent layout on every piece, plus close-up photos and video.

04

Handmade variation

A clear note that colour and pattern vary slightly by piece, with photos of the actual item where you sell unique pieces.

05

Fragile and heavy items

Weight-based shipping, packing notes for pottery and glass, and pincode checks before checkout.

Selected work

Shopify stores I’ve built

I don’t have a handicraft or jewellery store in my portfolio yet, and I won’t pretend otherwise. These live stores show how I build brand-led product pages and checkout.

Surya brings creativity, technical knowledge, and commitment to every project he handles.

FAQ

Questions Jaipur sellers ask

Is Shopify good for handmade products?

Yes, once it’s set up for them. Stock of one, made-to-order dispatch times and piece-by-piece photos all work well with the right product templates.

Should we leave Etsy once we have our own store?

Not necessarily. Many sellers keep a marketplace for discovery and use their own store for repeat buyers and higher margins. A sync app can stop the same piece being sold twice.

Can you import our Amazon or Instagram products too?

Often, yes, through migration apps or a spreadsheet export. What’s possible depends on the platform, so I check your export options before quoting.

Can we sell to buyers outside India?

Yes. Indian Shopify stores can show local currencies and accept international payments through the right gateway, with some limits. My Noida Shopify page covers the details.

You’re in Chennai. Why not a Jaipur agency?

A Jaipur agency suits you if you want photography, marketing and development under one roof, or meetings in person. If you want a carefully scoped store with direct access to the developer, I work remotely in the same time zone.

What will the store cost to run each month?

Shopify’s plan, its transaction fee on third-party gateways, gateway fees and any paid apps. My Chennai Shopify page explains these. My build is a separate, fixed quote.

Our business runs on bookings or enquiries, not online sales. Is Shopify right?

Probably not. Hotels, tour operators and trade showrooms are usually better served by WordPress; see my WordPress developer for Jaipur page.

Do you guarantee sales?

No. Your own store gives you control, but buyers still have to find it. My job is a store that shows your work at its best and makes buying simple.
